Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what I need to do to keep the law off my back once I get into distilling. I've done it a few times with a pretty cheap homemade wok-still, and I really want to get serious and buy one from brewhaus. However, I've read that it's illegal to own a still over 1 gallon in size, and I'm curious as to what steps I need to take to make sure that I can purchase a still legally and keep the man from knocking down my door. Thanks.

First thing is to not tell everybody and don't advertise it on these boards. IMO, a small home distilling setup isn't going to get the man worked up if you just keep it to yourself. Also, don't market your product to anybody who has the money. Keep it between yourself and maybe a couple of your buddies at most and everything should be fine.
