"Hello,
I was thinking of making a whiskey from unhopped malt extract.
Anybody tried this and, if so, how did it turn out?
Any recipes?
Thanks in advance,
Steve"

Steve Any beer recipe, withoout the added hops will work great. Somewhere, I posted a peatreek recipe for adding peat flavoring. I copied it from another site. That way you can add it to your malt whiskey till you reach the peated level that tastes best to you. Easy and makes a great whiskey. Yeast choice can vary the taste, but you need a more knowledgeable man than me for help there."

"My experience is pretty limited as I have only made whiskey from malt extract, both dry and syrup. I've decided to use only the syrup and it makes fine shine. I get compliments on how good it is especially when aged in oak. It is easy to mix up:
5 gallon fermenter 8 lbs of sugar 2 lbs of malt syrup 1 packet of whiskey yeast(Brewhaus brand) 5 tsp of yeast nutrient 1/8th tsp of epsom salt 10 tsp of lemon juice fill it up to leave enough room for bubbles and airlock it."
