Does anyone have a temp conversion for a brewhaus alcoholmeter?
Most scales are for ones that are calibrated to 68f. The one that i have is calibrated to 60. Will those scales work?
If so how? Thanks

I have two different types of alcoholmeters both by Widder and calibrated at 20C (68F) neither came with a chart that I can remember but I never temp correct anyways, I just want it close enough for consistency.
Here is an example of temperature corrections I have.
35% at 20C (68F) is 36.6% at 16C (60F) and 33% at 25C (77F)
50% at 20C (68F) is 51.5% at 16C (60F) and 48.1% at 25C (77F)
70% at 20C (68F) is 71.3% at 16C (60F) and 68.4% at 25C (77F)
So basically if you are using a 60F meter in a 77F solution then you readings will be about 3% high.

It is my understanding that each alcoholmeter has it's own specific chart. The reason being is because of the different diameters that they might make their glass for the instrument. That being said I am almost 100% sure that you can not use a 68F alcoholmeter chart for a 60F alcoholmeter. This saddens me because i can not seem to find a chart for the Brewhaus Alcohometer and it was recommended by a friend but I was very disappointed that they did not send a chart with it like everyone else does.
If anyone does have the chart or know where I could find it I would be very happy.
P.S. I called Brewhaus today and the guy who knows about it will not be in until next week :/"

"Yep that may all be true but is not of concern to me, the 2 Brewhaus meters I have are made by Widder and never found a chart even on their website, that was couple of years ago and never looked again after finding that it only off a few percent at worst.
I use mine in a parrot and only care about change and not actual numbers, taste and smell is what I cut by. My other use is for dilution and am not real concerned about that either, but at least by then you can cool your final spirits so the meter reads at its calibration temp. I suppose if I had to pay taxes on it I would want the exact number."

Here's the info: Correction for Brewhaus Premium 0-100% Alcoholmeter: For every 5 degree above 60oF subtract 1%abv from reading For every 5 degrees below 60oF add 1%abv to reading You can find this info at this link at Brewhaus: http://www.brewhaus.com/CategoryGrid4.aspx?CategoryId=142Just scroll down the page a bit, and you will see it, and other charts to help you with the 60º Alcoholmeter.
