AMEN to that. I have had the misfortune of falling into the trap of bling and city life but that happens to folks that do without when they are young. I have said that I spent the first part of my life trying to get off the farm and the rest of it trying to get back to it.

I did not know that being close to the earth was so comforting, but it is. I miss hog butcherin' time, raw wild honey from a ""bee tree"", bluegrass on Grannies porch, boiled coffee, huntin' morels in the spring and deer in the fall, and my family. I feel like a dog chasing my tail.

I must rectify this situation. Need any ""lectricians"" in WNC ? I R LICENSED."

Some people are like slinkies- not good for anything, But it sure is fun to push them down the stairs

So i bought the heavy duty router speed controller -- that did the trick, thank you all!. Between the insulation and the router speed control gizmo, the temperature had stayed within range of 75C to 81C (I am still tinkering with water). I was doing it in my garage with the door open, so i imagine gusts of cold wind affect the temperature fluctuations? Anyway, now that I am almost there, how important is it to keep the temperature dead on 78C? I am guessing that with home equipment, the temperature creeps a bit up or down all the time? Is 75C to 81 fluctuations too much? I was reading that at different temperatures you are getting different alcohols -- butane/methyl this and that -- does it matter? When you guys do the distillation, do you set the router control knob and mostly fiddle with the water flow? The other way around?
Is there any chance in hell of producing the ""wrong kind"" of alcohol and going blind?
Finally, here and there on this forum i have seen references to ""calibrating your column"" -- what does that mean?

Ok, too many questions, I apologize. THank you very much."
