"Howdy,

Does anyone have any experience or an opinion about the Prestige brand Vodka Yeast from Brewhaus? I followed Mr. Smiley's recipe to the letter for Wheat Vodka. OG was 1.040 and I am fermenting on grain. The air lock activity is down to almost nothing and it has been only 3 days. The mash smells fine and the SG math today indicates a 4.8 PABV. Not sure if it is ready to run or if it is dead/dying. I thought I would wait until tomorrow and take another SG to see if it is still progressing but this is the second try with this recipe and yeast and I am thinking the yeast is a little weird. Appreciate any input.

ps. Got good conversion per the iodine test and the mash temps at malt and yeast throw were right on so I don't think I killed anything during the mash prep. And my water was right on.

Dave"

I've used it several times with sugar washes and had excellent results every time. I'm too much of a newbie to troubleshoot your problem for you, though. I've never used it for a grain mash before.
