"We started putting the rest of the insulation on the brewhaus 7.5 gallon boiler. it will be done in a day or 2. we dont rush.
I have a 6 kw 240 volt element inthe boiler.
i will make my first run with 120 volts and a variac to set the wattage back when the head temp is in range.
a couple of things bother me.
1--could i start heating the boiler with 240 volts and cut back at an apropiate time or is that much wattage just to much even for getting the boiler up to temp quicker((the wash is extremely clear))
2--equilibrium. my rig is a cm and i never see people talking about equilibrium using a cm rig--
i have a ball valve on the condenser but i never used it, It seemed like a fun thing to do but now i wonder if i will ever be able to use it.
any advice on these questions???"

"6 kw X3.41 = 20,460 BTUs if my conversion factor is correct.
one of those large bayou classic banjo burners runs 150,000 BTUs so i guess 20 k bTUs is not too much.
150000/3.41=about 44000 watts by comparison.
any help here????:)
