"I have noticed on the news in the last few months several hobbist in this craft being arrested. Several within a 100 mile radius of me. An attorney that is a friend of mine is representing one of them. He called me and gave me a warning that the Feds are now paying big money for info on moonshiners.
Since I do not make any of that spirit I am good, but just giving a heads up.
The friend I get my drink from has gotten rid of his still. I guess I will have to buy the store bought stuff again."

"It's no surprise they are cracking down; there was a bill presented before the House that would legalize home craft distillation nationwide and in WA there is another bill to legalize it there provided the distillate is made with atleast 50% grains grown in Washington State and that license would be $100 per year.

The ones that get caught are the ones that sell it to anyone including kids whom give their supplier when they get caught!"

I am new to all of this, and would love to get the setup and produce some spirits for personal use, HOWEVER, as I've researched it, it clearly is not worth risking my liberty and career to run a still (as I understand it). Does the Federal Law allow for states to legalize home production for personal use? If it does, would it still require the payment of the Federal taxes on that production?"
