Using an old rule of thumb, 3 4lb. sacks of sugar and five gallons of water and showing a starting SG of 1.095 and using turbo8 or even a more super turbo, is it possible to reach a higher alcohol content to use even more sugar in a 5 gallon batch? What is the limit on sugar for turbo8 with 5 gallons? I got/am getting 13.5-14% and feel that it could be better. Also boiled the sugar/water 15-20 minutes to convert.

Turbo48 can easily reach 18.5% in about 7-8 days if temperature is controlled within instructions on packet.

Dale, that's 12# of sugar per 5 gallons of mash! Isn't that a bit much? The reason I'm asking is because I just learned something yesterday...after nearly 10 years. Recently, I converted a 5 gal pot still to a column still and I've been very happy with the results but...I use 5gal of mash and 8# of sugar and only get 3 pints of stuff leaving 5# of sugar in the mash which I can recycle by adding more yeast
