I am going to purchase the EE PS 2 HC, but not sure if I should go with the Complete package or just the Keg packge (and supply my own keg). Any thoughts on this?

I would think it would depend on how much you want to run at a time. The HC cooking pot will handle a 5 gallon wash just fine, you can run 2 batchs in a normal days run. If you want to run 10-15 gallons at a time then the keg would work better. I think you'd need a drain in the keg as it will be pretty heavy to be packing around after you make a run.

That's what I figured. I wonder if they have a conversion for later if you want to run off a keg

A lot of variables in the answer to your question. First are you going to reflux it or potstill it? Then of course you can't run 8 gallons of wash you can only run about 2/3rds that much. Then you have to consider the finished product according to how you make your cuts and what proof you are going to make. If you just did a striping run on 6 gallons of wash you could end up with close to 2 gallons + -.

Thanks for the reply. I 'm not sure about the cuts and reflux, etc yet. I am so NEWBE I haven't even ordered my setup yet. I'm thinking the Prokit 8 gal with the EE PSII High Cap. I've been going through the forum trying to find my way, but I'm getting lost in alot of the terms used (stripping run, spirit run, Heads Hearts and Tails, cuts, is the fore shot the same as the head, etc)

Can you tell me is there a thread that you know of that really dumbs it down for NEWBE's to get a handle on the terms and Jargon?

You should be able to work your way through the topics here and answer most of your questions.

Is foreshots the same as heads? No, the foreshots are the couple of ounces you collect at the first drip , you can use it for alcohol fuel or whatever, it's always dumped since it can contain methanol, you don't want to drink that XXXX. The heads are the early stages of the run just before the primo hearts."
