Potential alcohol = the amount of alcohol yet to potentially be produced if all sugars / carbohydrates are fermented out entirely. Zero potential alcohol means that there is nothing left to be fermented (ie. the yeast did its job and fermented all of the sugar). :)

I noticed something in your first post ---you said -- bubbled strong for 2 days then stopped. You said Turbo 48 - well thats how long it takes for that yeast to work (48 hours) you should be right on. I'm with div4gold cook it, its not gonna get any better.

"Bananas usually means heads.

Cloudy usually means tails.

It is possible to push tails into the 90s

Could be residue from a previous run lining your column and packing?

Did you collect with small jars?"

Yes, I used a mason jar and sampled every 100ML or so, I'm brand spankin new at this and my nose & taste buds need some experience. I used my brand new PS11HC, this thing is cool as ever, It took a long time to heat up, I wrapped a welding blanket around it and it took right off. Threw out the first150ML. stopped collecting when it got so I had to keep adjusting the water flow to keep it going. It smelled like banannas pretty much all the way through till the end, I just need some more practice I think. I also think Im going to get a more accurate thermometer, although it read 172 all the way through the run till it started to rise in the end. output was a steady trickle when I was running it, Do you think I might have run it too fast? should I run it all through again a little slower, at a drip rather than a trickle?

Too fast????Maybe.

If your using turbo yeast the you would be trying to produce a nuetral with substandard ingredients.....

Strip it first. Run as fast as your product condencer will allow. Make a fores cut if you like. Keep every thing else. Then dilute to 35-40% and do your spirit run at 2-3 drips per second for some clean booze with brutal cuts.

I've been doin some reading and I think I'm gonna try running it again slower, I guess what I did was a stripping run because it was pourin out pretty fast. and I'll try to do a little better at separating cuts, I kept pretty much all of the run. Ill keep postin' as it happens ! Thanks all

Take your final product and cut it with water to say.... 40% (80 proof) Pour it back in your boiler and start again. Run it real slow and collect in 200-300ml (yeah it takes lots of jars but just be ready) amounts. Then the next day or so use your nose to tell which jars are heads and which are tails. After your run - and - you let it sit, your nose will tell you more than you think. Your hearts will smell really good and the other stuff will smell --well--not so good. And of curse the final amount will be less than the first run. Try this and see if it helps.
