I have been using sugar in my corn mash, and considering trying molasses instead. Has anyone tried substituting sugar for molasses? Does it change the flavor of the wiskey? I use a reflux still with a little less copper mesh packing and distill at a little higher temperature to keep some of the impurities in the final product for taste.

"All you will get with reflux is neutral little or no taste, use pot still for flavor.

Give it enough heat to piss a stream the size of a tooth pic and collect with small jars to best isolate your transitions."
