Thanks for looking!
My boiler is made from a 15 gal. keg with a 2' X 35' column fitted with copper packing that you get from Brewhaus. I only distill between 5 to 6 gallon wash at a time. The still is heated with a 1500 watt element in the bottom of the tank. It is controlled by a electronic temperature control with the thermostat mounted in the top of the column and never reaches above 83C.
This batch was made with the original Prestige Vodka. I disregarded the 1st 50ml and started collecting the next 6 pints one pint at a time. Within the first 6 pints the percent volume went from 75 to 70. I put these 6 pints to the side.
I then continued collecting about 6 more pints for the next 6 hours at about 1 drop per second. Around the 7th pint it started smelling foul. I have several gallons of this foul smelling alcohol that I don't know exactly what to do with. So, is there anything else I can do with this run?
I have made gallons of this and took to about 110 proof, threr a peach or two into the quart and sat in the garage. ,about 75 qts ,
As far as the differance I have found between the 6mm ceramic rings and the copper is that it heats up about 30 minutes faster, I has always filled my column with the rings to the top and there was a lot less pressure with the copper.
I think maybe I should use less rings. I did find the copper being just as hard to clean as the rings. One last ?
On turbo yeast that says up to 20 per cent, how does that relate to a 25 liter carboy?
Thanks !
