"Ok -- learning a lot quickly here - thanks all

thought my initial runs that came out at 80 proof were mistakes and now have learned that is normal for a stripping run and then multiple stripping runs make a spirit run.....so, when is it correct, or acceptable, to just do a spirit run and are the fore shots, heads, hearts and tails the same?? got a nice 6 gallons of peach mash going now and it went in with a SG OF 1060 -- since i just have this one batch, I don't see myself doing a stripping run and instead just a spirit run -- I had a similar experience with hard cider and it ran at 130 proof on one run - plan on running it Friday night so I appreciate all feedback and best practice on everything from running, aging, filtering ,etc.

Along the same lines, my buddy is doing a sugar wash and I'll run that this weekend as well - is one spirit run sufficient? I see threads on treating it similar to whiskey with stripping and spirit runs, but if the reflux still can get it to such a high level of alcohol are multiple runs needed or is that just polishing it up to make a nicer end product

seems my next threads will be on filtering and aging, but looking to figure out the best practices for this weekend, especially the peach mash - thanks in advance all for the feedback"

"Wash through a column can be painfully slow for the pot stillin crew. Stripping with a stripper head/ pot head can be a good way to shed bulk amounts of water. A 40% boiler charge for your column gonna make it run so much better.

Most folks like to run fruit low and slow on a single run.....but you should at some point try both ways so that you can establish your own point of view."
