"I use a pickle barrel an wrap it with a hot water heater blanket. I have actually had to remove the blanket some to let it cool down. It will stay warm on a large batch while fermenting. Old timers just pile leaves around there barrels in the winter.
If your doing 6 gallons or so, just add a aquarium heater to your bucket. You can insulate the outside of your bucket to help. Aquarium heaters have a thermostat that is usually 78 degrees."

Mile high distilling sells a "brew belt" that warms fermenting buckets.
