rick, i keep getting oil in my spirit after the 1st distillation....i am using a 48 hour prestige turbo mash....it comes out crystal clear, but has oil film in it and smells bad....i am throwing away the head and the tail but still get the oil....will distilling 2 or 3 times help with this problem ??? thanks scott

Reduce the amount of sugar you are using, and if you are pitching the yeast at a high tempature stop it .That 'oil' is a byproduct of a strained fermentation. When your yeasties are unhappy they make nasties instead of goodies UserPostedImage
