"these are 1 and 1/2 inch npt components with apropriate o rings  they can make a no weld filler port for your boiler  or a no weld conversion to an electric hot water heater element  i would like to have used 2 nuts but it is galvanised and stainless nuts are very expensive."

Punkin suggested a ball valve instead of the plug for filling---sounds easier too
