Ok, first batch i made we mixed up our yeast suger and water, i dont think we waited long enough before we distilled because we were pretty exited... We yielded about 6 bottles and the first came to be 86% and everything after the first bottle went down hill... We will be waiting longer this time, so what else are we doing wrong? Also We discarded the first 150 ml's last time, we are just using a suger, yeast, and water mash, do we have to discard anything at all? Need to get some help i dont want to waste my time making the stuff and only get 86% back this time, it was as low as 50% in the last bottle collected. One more question how do we know when to stop? when we think that its not worth the money or time to keep running when its only coming out in drops? Last time we did it we got a small stream coming out then all of a sudden like every 5 mins or less it would just blast out of the still... whats wrong there!??! please help me guys i know im impasient but please try to help

Ryan, you didn't say what kind of yeast you used nor did you say how long you let it work ,ferment,. If you follow the directions on the package and use 'Prestige Vodka yeast' ,best deals available are from Brewhaus USA,, and let it sit and work ,it will look as though nothing is happening, but there is. It will finish off almost all the sugar you use, for about 7-9 days before distilling it, I assure you, you WILL NOT be disapointed! This stuff makes a VERY powerful and clean vodka ,which can be flavored as whiskey, or anything you like,! It has virtually NO METHYL in it at all, so ya don't really have to toss anything out! I don't have any connection with Brewhaus, except that I'm one very happy customer of theirs. I'm betting you will be too after trying their yeast! Let me know how things turn out. Spiritmaker

Mostly I drink em! That 48 hour stuff is great but I kinda lean towards th Prestige Vodka yeast so I don't really have to do any more than mebbie run it thru my 'Brita' filter. When I use corn as the base for my wash, I toss the first 50ml, filter the rest and flavor and color it with a little carmelized white 'cane' sugar. I tried 'oaking' some, but I must have left it too long. But I drank it anyway ,wasn't all that bad with a little mixer,. Some old timers used to bake an apple and soak it in the finishing whiskey to mellow and color it, but I haven't bothered with this yet. Thanks fer yer 'apple pie shine' recipe. I'll keep digging for more to pass on to ya. By th way, I assume by th proportions you supplied that you used 5-gallons of water to make yre wash, right? Thanks, Spiritmaker
