Okay, I've made a couple of runs in reflux mode with my Essential Extractor Pro Series II using a 14% abv wash. I use propane for my heat source. First off, I notice that I don't begin producing distillate until I have a head temp(top of column) of 176 degrees F...this produces about a drop every second to second and a half. If I decrease cooling flow to my column and allow the head temp to rise to about 178 degrees F, I get a couple of drops of distillate per second. In both cases, I'm getting 180 proof, 90% abv distillate. What can I do to increase my purity to 95% or 190 proof? I've varied my head temp from 176 to 182 degrees F and my alcohol remains 90% abv or 180 proof. Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks LWTCS for the info, I'm a beginner, so I'm still finetuning. I think I've paid a lot of attention to my column/condenser cooling rate, but I've tried to set my propane regulator and not adjust it during the distillation...sounds like I may need to increase my heat input so as to increase the amount of vapor produced thereby increasing my reflux rate?...did I word that correctly?
