hi guys, just trying to get as much info as i can before i actually start distilling, tentative date mid-late jan,. when it comes to essences, if i use the amazing still, the end product is vodka right?? ,same as a neutral spirit??, if i was then to add, say a whiskey essence, would it taste like whiskey?? or would it be some screwed up flavour?? if i am wrong about any of this, feel free to correct me as i am eager to learn.

The scotch whiskey essences I had used in the past was excellent. The saphire gin was maybe a bit weak in flavor but very drinkable. I might try the gin with a little less vodka. Amareto is OK if used in a mix. It's actually pretty good but don't add the recomended sugar, reduce it. I would like to ask anyone if they have tried the tequilla. I am told that it was developed to emulate the flavor of the $300 bottles of tequila. I cant argue that, as I never spent that much on a bottle. I have spent $75 USD on a bottle in Toluca Mexico. Seems the favorite tequila to mexicans is very smooth but a strong tequila flavor. The american favorites seem to be smooth with a loss of tequila flavor. This essence tastes more like my peach vodka. I am told this is the desired flavor. I don't know. Any one out there buy a $300 USD bottle of tequila? What di it taste like?

Personal preference - the new tequila essence is not worth the money - the old stuff was outstanding

Rick, The yeast was stored in a cool dark place, temp around 65 degrees all the time, no light. I stillhave two packages of turbo 24 left that I have not used or tired and will not based upon what the other two did. I am going to order more from you on monday a nd its not a problem with me, somethings just go bad and yeast is a iving organism and its not a problem with me, Now I know that I cannot buy and keep the stuff....get it when I need it thats all.
Quaffin 1, yeal, the tequila estract is terrible, the only one that I have tired that i really did not like. To all who buy essences, the blackberry schnapps is out of this world...really good with just ice and a glass, fact is you can skip the ice,,,,,Jimbull

[I tried the tequila essence twice. Which means I wasted two quarts of good alcohol. My tequila has a smell of artificial strawberrys.

'When did the Tequila essence change?' I think I noticed the change about 6-8 months ago. Rick and I had several conversations regarding the new formula. Seems that Bert wanted to make a 'purer' essence of the blue agaves. Maybe he did, but to me and my friends - it aint tequila. May be if enough people asked, we could Gert we need a change back to the old or at least let us buy the old as a separate essence.

If the turbo was purchased from us directly, then I can assure you that it was fresh, as we rotate and monitor our stock levels very closely to ensure that it remains fresh. There are several scenarios, but by far the most common is taking the yeast directly from the refrigerator and pitching it. The temperature shock can kill the yeast.

The Tequila essences changed a little over 6 months ago, and while this was seen as an improvement in Europe, it has not been received the same here. We have been discussing with Gert how to maintain consistency between what is offered in Europe and North America under the same label, while bringing back the old Tequila essences. In any event, the previous essence will again be available soon.

We will be sending a newsletter out with this information. Gert and I are working together on this, and will bring the old Golden Tequila back first ,in the next couple of months,, giving time to develop an even better White Tequila than before. It will certainly meet all the expectations of Tequila enthusiasts when completed.

Which Tequila essence is in question here? The standard, or the Premium gold kind? Or both?
