If water boils at 202 deg f at 6000 ft elevation. Should I have the same 10 deg drop for all the numbers. Acetone,Methanol, ect. I have looked around and did not see the sub. come up anywhere. Thanks for the time.

Hey Racefan, in my opinion it wont make any difference one way or the other what temp water boils at cause your not lookin to boil when your cookin. You are tryin to vaporize the ethanol in your wash.........if you use the takeoff rate ( whats coming out of the condenser) and then eyeball the temp gauge (if you have one) then at that point you'll know what temp will work for you and your still. Ya know what I mean? we arent boiling our wash at 212F for example... if it gets that high you will most defenately be in the tails and your done anyway. So go through the heatup and when the drip or drizzle rate is what your after leter go from there. Hope I got my point across for ya.

"Again your gonna toss out the first 100mls or so no matter what the temp gauge is doing. So heatup slow and toss that first amount and then set the heat for the collection rate you want. Remember, the temp is gonna rise throughout the run because the ethanol to water ration is uneven. I know if you watch the thermometer while you cook you'll see what Im saying, ya know lots of folks dont even have a temp gauge on thier still they go strickly by the smell and drip rate. After you've made some runs you'll see. Happy stillin.

Thanks to all for the replys and help. I am looking forward to getting my equipment set up and giving it a run. Been reading on here for a while and think I have learned enough to get myself in trouble but for me that is normal. Thanks again.
