"Ok trying not to chafe anyones back side I have another newbie question.
Anyone ever try using a beer or wine steeping bag for grain in there mash.
If you go to williams brewing and look there is a reusable nylon bag that will hold 1 1/2lb of grain. Would it help in keeping the mix clear? If anyone has tried this one I would like to know how it turned out. Might be good for cornflakes type of mix. Thanks to all I am still waiting for my pot but learning a little more everyday ."

I grabbed one of these bags that fit in a 5 gal bucket and used it as a strainer. Worked mint. Unlike cheese cloth/t-shirt which involves a lot of wait time it strained immediately and was then able to squeeze out the rest and run once fresh water through for good measure. This was cornmeal/rye/malted barley mash.
