Hey amigos, got my pro series last week. Set it up Sunday and did the leak test, no issues. now need to get some supplies. i do have a question. what is the chain included in the kit for? does not list function in the book. is it for cleaning? thanks J

Put it in the bottom of the pot and forget about it. It is to help break up the big bubbles when your pot is cooking.

Yes, it's for cleaning. You put it with some cleaner in the pot and it will help break loose some of the burned on crud.

I am new at all this and sure would not clam to know what I am talking about but I was told the chain was to keep the bubbles smaller when the pot started bowling. Would keep big air bubbles from going up the tube. Yes/no maybe?

That's right. I've heard of marbles being put in the boiler for the same reason.

thanks boys. all sound advice. i had done the leak test w/o the water hooked up. after running the rig, i agree about running with everything hooked up. very different watching someone put the rig thru its paces then having to do it on your own. kinda like some other stuff:) i plan on getting some ec1118 this week and do a sugar wash after getting new hose clamps and a second ball valve to control the top of the column.
