"I have been driving a pot still for some time now and I enjoy the art enough that I just recieved my new BH PCII HC late last week. I have it all set up and now it is time to start driving the thing. Got UJCM bubbling and 3 gal of low wines from the last mash I put through the pot still waiting for a practice run on Friday. Wish me luck. "

I will give the reflux a try. It will take me a few runs to get the hang of it but the time will be well spent I think.

"Bigwheel,
You were right. I thought it over and decided to run the 3.5 Gal of low wines + 1.5 Gal of water from my pot still through first. It took 10 hours with with my 1500W hot plate. The pot still will run through that in 3 to 4 hours. But what a diference in quality. I collected until it got up to 174 degrees and dumped it into a fire started jar and then separated it into 500ml jars for the rest of the run. I covered with the ring and a coffee filter for the night and made some preliminary cuts this morning. I can not wait to fiddle with the barrel chips but off to work now."

Ok a couple of observations from a new guy:
-Rick really puts together a quality produce and has great communication while standing behind his product with superb customer service. - The second time I am driving - I found that with a larger load (6 Gal) I was reaching the 3 hour mark trying to heat things up with my 1500W hot plate. I remembered how many have their unit insulated and I did it on the fly with old towels for this run. Wow what a difference and it got real hot real fast and I was able to use the water to control the temperature. - That bring up the next item - the modifications I read about with a separate valve for the condenser and reflux. I can not tell you what a difference this has made in controlling the unit to its optimum. - The only problem I am having is all the sampling that is going on. This is real good and the UJCM is refluxing yet has maintained just enough of its goodness for my taste.
Thank you to all for letting me understudy

"BW,
Thanks for the info. I will make a trip to the store. I modified the Hot Plate first thing and ordered the Router Control before I got the unit. Just could not wait for it to get here I guess.
Thanks for all the help.
