"Hello , I am having a cycling issue all out of the blue with the 1100 watt burner I bought from Brewhaus. It is starting to cycle pretty badly, so I figgure it needs to be replaced. I was originally going to buy the 1500 watt but was advised by a representitave from Brewhause not to buy the 1500 watt unit for the 8 gal psII cooker. Does anybody here use the 1500 watt for the psII 8 gal? Is there anything special I would need to do while operating (Or prior to operating)?
Thanks!"

I wanna say I was told that the 1500 watt hotplate would be to much for the 8 gal cooker, but its been about 6 months since I purchased. With that said, I have been running it pretty hard since I recieved it and have always had to set it to max temp, so I guess I'm not to surprised it is starting to act up. Guess I will be making a trip Harbor Freight next weekend!

As long as you have good ventalation it's ok. I installed a exhuaust fan in my building that pulls all the fumes out, just don't get the hooch to close to the flame. Propane is alot faster to heat up the boiler with and I can turn it way down to controll my flow with. I'm running a 30 gal. Boiler and I can have it up to heat in about an hour 1/2, i'll use about half of a 20 lb tank. I guess it's what you get use to. As for nosey neighbors, all mine like it. Lol

What's your hotplate doing? Did you bypass the thermostat?"

"I use the 1500W hot plate with the 8 Gal Premium Milk Can with the PSII HC tower. It works well now that I have insulated the unit. It is much easier to control the Temp through water control now. The hot plate has plenty of juice and I have the thermostat bypassed and a 20 amp router control from MLCS. The 1500W hot plate is not too much for the 8 Gal can.

I see brewhaus is out of stock with the 1500W hot plate. I got mine from CHEFSCATALOG.com. They have free shipping, 100% guarantee, and free retrun shipping if you do not like it for the same price as Brewhaus.

Here is a couple of pics of my setup. I run pot still head with my thumper keg when I am making my Corn Shine and my feflux column when i am cooking a sugar wash. I'll run 3- 32L fermenters at a time. In the reflux mode it will usually put out about 10 qts. from 194 proof down to 150 proof. In the Pot mode it will put out around 11 qts. of 130 proof down to 120 proof, run it on propane. Takes about 1 1/2 hours to bring it upto heat, i use about 1/2 of a 20lb bottle of propane in a run.

Hey Sparky, I'll tell you what, it looks so good that it don't even have to work!! I've never been into the outside as much as the inside, matter of fact my buddies would make fun of me if mine looked 1/2 that good. Nice job.
