"Worked on mash last night and it the airlock is not ""bubbling"". I mixed 13lbs of sugar in warm water (110 degrees) and sugar dissolved. When temp was at 94 degrees, i added turbo yeast (high alcohol) and stirred for a good 3-4 mins to get it in. put the lid and airlock on and 2 hrs later it was bubbling. when i woke up this am, i checked it..... not bubbling. What did i do wrong or is it still good and working?
I am an amateur and this is my 3rd batch to ferment and was just trying a sugar water batch for this run.
Thanks for any help"

Your wash would have been 1.119 on the hydrometer, if the total wash volume was 5 gallons. That's a little high for the yeast to consume. There's something about the osmotic pressure being too high to allow the yeast to consume the sugar. All I've seen is brewers saying to keep the wash from going over 1.080. If the turbo yeast contains all the nutrients the wash would need, then you should've been fine. If not, then nutrients would've been needed. A basic sugar wash would need a can of tomato paste for nutrients (everyone calls it the bomb). Hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out. muadib2001 attached the following image(s): SugarCalc.JPG (20kb) downloaded 2 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.

Only thing I can think of is you pitched a bit to hot at 94 degrees........Think you might have scalded them little fellers. What works for me is to pitch around 75 degrees haven't had one not starting pharting yet!!!!! knock on wood!!!!!

How much more sugar and yeast did you add? Do you use pure cane sugar or generic? Do you add turbo yeast or other type?
