i normally put 8kg of dextrose in my 25lt wash, this time i used normal sugar you can buy from the supermarket, but i was only told to put 7kg in. it's been 2 day and it's only up to 10% abv with very little action left, bubbling and shit,. should i have put 8kg in?????? or maybe i should wait another few days for it to fully finish??? maybe i should add another 1kg now???? any help would be good

Dextrose is directly fermentable by the yeast, and therefore will ferment slightly faster. In general, you should add about 10% more dextrose than sucrose for the same %abv finished wash, so while your 7kg is a little bit low, it is in the right ball park.

Please let's not net into another series of arguments on this forum. Why are some people so worried about spelling that they will write in about that but not offer assistance to the question being asked?

Hi Whitewater. Just so that you don't think that this string is spiraling downward, it was Ace that picked on his own spelling- not someone else picking on it. I do agree, though- this is not English class.

I use 13 pounds of table sugar to 5 gallons of water and that gives me 14% abv in the wash. I have ran this and I ended up with after diluting to 40%-80 proof 1 gallon of great tasting vodka. I used the essecens and I am not convinced that I will be able to keep enough wash going for myself and friends.
