"Finally cleared my brown sugar, molasses and rum yeast wash.Took 15 days. Pretty cold up here in N E. Beginning S.G. was 1.120. Ending 1.000. Ran 1st 4 ltrs through my air still and it came out at start clear and 68%. (yee hah). I stopped collecting hearts at 40%. Then kept collecting til 20% to save for later run. I have high hopes. It tastes pretty good right now. Wish me luck.
Gotta love this hobby!!"

Thanks Mkjt88. I am not sure where I pulled this recipe from. I looks like I pulled it from Homedistillers.org w/ a couple of minor changes. I started with 20 ltrs warm water, 96 oz. (4 24 oz. btls) of grocery store molasses. 4 lbs of light brown sugar. Dissolved sugar and molasses. and let cool to 85 degrees. Recipe called for enough sugar to reach 16 or 17% potential alcohol but I did not have enough at the time so I put in what I had and added enough water to reach that point. In the mean time I hydrated 1 pkt of Distillers Rum Turbo yeast with AG (recipe called for EC-1118) in a quart of the warm wash. I pitched yeast at 85 degrees and locked it up. on day 3 I dissolved 1 1/2 lbs of brown sugar in a quart of warm water and added it to the wash and stirred gently. 7 days SG was 1.022. 12 days 1.006. 15 days 1.000 and no bubbles. clarified it. Racked it and let is sit in my cool garage till I could start running. I wound up with 5 1/4 gals of clean wash

Oh ya, the total volume of the wash before racking was 5 3/4 gal. There was a lot of dead yeasty things etc. More than my other washes but this being my first rum wash I'm thinking it was because of the molasses.
