I've used Turbo 24 for 2 runs through my reflux rig, and am quite satisfied with the result. The fermentation took only 24 hours ,10# sugar in 5 gal water, and I had 10 gallons of wash, and got close to 1.5 gallons of 92% ETOH. I stopped collecting at 184 deg F ,top of column temp,, but next time I might keep collecting to 200 or 204 in a separate vessel ,any comments on this?,.

What I am curious about is this. Is there another yeast that will produce a higher yield, yet ferment as quickly ,or fairly close, as the Turbo 24? I see the 8kg Turbo can go to 20%, but how long is the ferment, a couple days, or a couple weeks?

If anyone would happen to know the fermentation times for the various turbos, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning on making a fair sized yeast purchase here soon, so which should I get to make me really happy?

It's really not a major issue, just a convenience thing -- I'd rather be drinking than cooking.

I have used the 24, 48 8kg and now I am using the distiller yeast. The distillers yeast takes two weeks and gives 20% so it advertises. we'll see. Of the turbos, I liked the 48 best because it seemed to have little smell or taste, but that was before carbon filtering. Now who gives a rats ass. Get the one that you like the best. if you got 1 1/2 gal of 92% you are doing a hell of a lot better then I am, I usually only get in the gallon range of 92-95 product. Check the prices on brewhaus us, they now have bulk pricing, multiple pacs I mean, talk to Rick, he'll help ya......Jimbull

I'm with Jimbull on this one, if youre getting 1.5 gallons of 90+ you're already doing something right!
I say stick to the yeast you're using.
