Just made another sf mash and im trying to figure out this whole sg thing. i made a 6 gallon batch and cooled it down to 90 F and measured the starting sg. it can out to 1.092 and then used a chart to make up the difference for temp so that means its at 1.097. am i doing this right and does 1.097 sound good?

Hi Outdoor, did you aireate the wash before pitching the yeast, and did you rehydrate your yeast at least an hour prior to pitching. Mouth wash should be Ok, I use tails or some other drinking alcohol like cream de menth. You don't need to take another reading until your mash finishes working. The more you open the fermenter the more likely contamination will occure.

Stupid me! I didn't put enough fluid in the airlock. No wonder I didn't see a lot of bubbling.
