Since I just ordered some new fermenters I thought I would ask the community: How many batches do you have fermenting at one time at different stages in general? Also how often do you run a batch? Once a month? Once a week? Twice a year? Just curious to see what level of time people devote to this hobby!

Kind of depends on how much you consume of your finished product. I stopped for a while til the new toy is complete but i was running 2 10gal mashes a week and cooking all weekend. I found myself doing 4-5 stripping runs and one spirit run just to keep up. Became too time consuming hence the 15gal boiler and 4" bubble plate column build which is reported to be able to produce a gallon/hr. Just ordered the last of my supplies last night. An 8" tri-clover aint cheap. Got some more 4" as well so i could make it modular with a VM column ontop of the 3 bubble plate flute for neutrals. Went to the trouble of building 6 site glasses, plates and bubble caps but decided even with 6 its wasn't going to give me a clean neutral so i decided a 3 plate flute(2" bubble cap weir dam style) should give me the abv i want for whisky and because it can produce 80+ it should only take a fairly short packed column on top of that to produce a clean mid 90s neutral(i hope) at a decent rate of production.

I actually enjoy the building more then the making.

Hey ohyeahyeah I'm looking to build something along those lines also. Where did you get your ideas, dimensions, plans, from. I'm not going 8" more like 3-4" for my first attempt.

Hey shovelhead, I start a new ferment about every 3 weeks and some of those are beer. Too many other things to do and not that much of a drinker.

Hey ohyeahyeah ,Thanks for the info on your build. I have some more questions but it will wait. Why don't you start another thread in the projects area.

Maybe Rick or one of the moderators could move your last post here to over there.
