How do I fill the column with mest? I rilled up to the cooling tubes.
Do I pack some copper mesh around the tubes?
AND above the tubes?

Make sure your mesh is 100% pure copper. Pack the whole column snug so that it does not fall out but not too tight. Stuff some around and above the cooling tubes as well.
