I was curious about the Honey Comb Barrel Alternative (Yellow Birch, Medium roast) which is used to flavor/age distilled spirits. This product seems to be similar to oak chips. This is from the description of the product:
"This product will do in 6 weeks what it takes a barrel years to do. Each stick in the package will flavor about 1.5- 2 gallons depending on the amount of flavor you want. There are 3 sticks in each package. The Yellow Birch will give you flavors of Toffee, Butterscotch, Honey and Tropical Fruit. Just add one stick to about 2 gallons and wait 6 weeks. Shake the container once a day for best results".

Has anyone used this product yet? Does it offer anything different or is it better then the normal Oak chips?
