The condensor I made. The guy that made it for me says that
The compression union is brass and the vapors are only contacting
About a 16th of a inch before going into the copper.
I don't feel comfortable running it like that and need options to fix the problem."

Here's my take on it. The "accepted" solution was to pickle the brass fitting in a solution of 50% vinegar and 50% hydrogen peroxide (same stuff you get at the drug store), room temperature for 4-5 minutes until it turned a buttery yellow. If it turns dark, then you've gone too long. I've also see the ratio as 33% vinegar to 66% hydrogen peroxide, room temperature or heated (I have no idea what temperature).
Lastly, I've also heard that there is no lead in current brass fittings nowadays, but I couldn't find it in the posts on this website.
