"Ok guys maybe i am a dumbass or not but here is a dumb question. My pot has a temp gauge on it. I am doing my sac run the gauge is reading 200 degreese F
and i just now got distialte comming out on the worm. The temp gauge is kind of low on the pot. Also i am using a water heater element with a router controller. Should i run it wide open till it starts flowing then back off or should i back it off when i get around 170 degreese?"

AA is correct. If you leave the heat on full you will overshoot. Once you get to 30* cut the heat back. My unit shoots from 30* to 70* in an eye blink.

AA I think he said he's at 200 with little coming out???? Your gonna have to find that sweet spot on your particular unit, once you get a wash in it. ---what was your sac run???? a sugar wash or wine??? With a wash in the boiler I think you should use the discharge to run your unit until you see whats going on. By that I mean once it starts to drip see what temp you are at and then adjust from there, up or down. Gotta crawl before we soar ya know, slow drips untill your comfortable with the setup. IMHO...."

The temp gauge is kind of low on the pot. Have you insulated the tube coming out of the pot to your condensor? I had that problem and when I insulated, I got output at a much lower temperature. In this weather (such as it is...), the coolness will cause the vapor to condense back down into the pot before it ever reaches the condensor. Just a thought... Also, please tell us what type of system you're running (potstill, reflux, etc).
