"Hi all,
Been reading all of the different forums and decided to join this one.
I am new to the hobby, I build custom BBQ SMOKERS and think this will fit well.
I want to start out with equipment that will last me a long time without having to upgrade so I will be asking lots of ?
I am about 40 mile south of ATL, GA . Anyone close?"

Hi sawman, Welcome to the forum. One of our moderators, Scotty is our resident foodie and has set up a nice food section. I'm biased but I would highly reccomend the PS2Hc from our site owner Brewhaus. They make top quality equipment and I have not heard one complaint. Rick and his crew are great to deal with. Maddawgs

"im in central gulf coast florida-- the traffic in those nutty 8 lane in each direction Atlanta freeways really taught this N.Y. city boy a lesson.
i just gave away my gas smoker and now have an electric one--it works but i needed something to compensate for body parts in efficiency. you must be a die hard stick burner.
go for the 15 gallon boiler and the 3 inch tower. you can distill 6 gallons in the 15 but not the reverse-- i have an 8 gallon one--it works great but i really would like to mash and store a few batches before running to break up the responsibility and all the work."

Hi Scotty, I get down to Panama city Beach about twice a month, we have a place there. I plan on going with the 15 gallon with built in heating elements and the big column. My big smokers run on straight wood, but for cooking around the house I use an Ugly Drum Smoker, most efficient and easiest smoker out there."

"i'm in destin till sunday, then back to lecanto and all my toys- im doing mainly pastramis these days-- i just did 30 pounds of kielbassa- next on the food but not smoked list are brats and italians.
good luck with the rig--good choice, usea large 220 volt element then switch it to 110v and a router speed control for the fine tuning stage."

I have aquired a water chilling unit, will this work for my cooling system? this is a portable industrial unit that i can adjust the water temp."

Hi Sawman, How does the chilling unit work, and does it hold it's own water in a tank and if so how much? what is it normally used for and do you have any pic's... Thanks, Captinjack

"Hi Captinjack, The chiller was used to cool plastic injection molds, the water is circulated through the molds. i t has its own 5 gallon water storage that cycles the water. With it running through a 300 degree mold I can maintain a 60f degree temp. What would be the ideal temp to maintain the coolant water while distilling ? The unit is programmable and i can go as low as 37 degrees " sawman10 attached the following image(s): chiller.jpg (74kb) downloaded 0 time(s). chiller1.jpg (50kb) downloaded 0 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. boy thats a winner-- when i use ground water for 10 hour runs the 65 degrees constant give me complete control-- im working on a radiator cooling system but i really fear that it wont be able to cool any lower than whatever ambient is.

Hi Sawman, I don't think that will work, and you should get rid of it. I think I could find a place for it, just send it to me,ha,ha,ha lol... Kidding aside, that thing is sweet, Just hook up your cooling lines and valve's,make sure it's filled up with 5g water and plug it in. I'm not sure what the ideal temp. would be but everyone says to run cool and slow, so I would imagine the cooler the better. You would have to experiment running it and find a temp. and flow rate that works for you and produces the best. Nice looking unit... Captinjack

"Hi chooch, i have used the frozen bottles before, hoping this will eliminate all of that :)
I finally have this unit at home, and hoping to aquire the 10'x12' shed we have at work to get it all setup in.
My plant is closing and I have a chance to get some good equipment. Just got an electronic PH meter."

Hi sawman, That is a nice chiller unit, we used similar units to cool our equipment at work. I think if you set it for room temp 68f-72f you should be fine. With my dual 32 gallon set up I found that I did not need the frozen 2 liter bottles and thru an 11 hour run column water supply never went above 72f. Maddawgs

"Hi Maddawgs,
I will probably set up a large container and then just chill that water as needed, no need to run that 220 power. Still have a while before my unit ships so i am just getting everything organized ."
