Recently I have had less abv for the same amount of corn and sugar used in the mash, what could be the reason for this? The final product yeild is much less than previous runs. I`m using 10 t0 12 pounds of sugar to 5- 6 gallons of water with a starting sg of .080 and it works down to .990 before I distill. RCM

"rcm,

Based on your gravities your washes are around 11% abv. For volumes of 5 - 6 gal, that gives you about 2.2 - 2.6 quarts of pure EthOH.

Did you measure the volume and abv for each jar you collected and do the math to calculate the actual differences? What were the numbers? And did you run your rig the same way each time?
