"We use tried and true recipes for a reason. So do political opportunists. There's no need (no motivation) for a unique approach. Is it any surprise that Roosevelt was in office when that cartoon was published? If you want to see the entire playbook, all you need to do is read two books. It's all there in black and white.

You can find copies of these online: The original manifesto was drawn up in 1848, so it obviously lacked the experience of the second industrial revolution (the technological revolution). However, the priciples haven't changed one bit. Here's what Marx and Engels had to say. I'll change the [terminology] to match our situation today ( emphasis added): Quote:The [entitlement society] will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degrees, all capital from the [rich], to centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the state, i.e., of the [entitlement society] organized as the ruling class; and to increase the total of productive forces as rapidly as possible.
Of course, in the beginning this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of [rich] production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production. And what were the ""means of despotic inroads"" through which they planned to ""wrest ... the capital from the rich"" ? That's all spelled out as well. I'll throw [COLOR=""#B22222""]in my commentary[/COLOR] along with their 10 point plan: [LIST=1] Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]Emminent domain (the power to take private property for public use by a state), political control of public land leases to oil companies, covert land aquisition (related to #3), the EPA (rendering private property unusable via bureaucratic, rather than democratic mechanisms).[/COLOR]
A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]This doesn't require an explanation ... just tax the crap out of the rich.[/COLOR]
Abolition of all right of inheritance.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]I'm sure everyone is aware of the inheritance tax ... property seizure, plain and simple. Basically, if you can't raise the capital to cover the tax on say, an inherited farm, you'll have to sell (or it will be seized).[/COLOR]
Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]Seize property if someone attempts to escape. Confiscate property of those that oppose the state. Gun control is a great example of confiscating the propert of ""rebels.""[/COLOR]
Centralization of credit in the hands of the state by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]The Fed (Federal Reserve System) and the puppet Ben Bernanke (just print money to manipulate the economy and the stock market), the government controlled student loan system, and even health care.[/COLOR]
Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]The ""commerce clause,"" the Federal Communications Commission, attempts to sensor ""talk radio,"" etc., etc. The national telecommunications system (e.g. telephone service, etc.) remains relatively independent (for now ... they'll get to that once they get control of the oil companies) but it's still very heavily regulated and taxed (just take a look at your phone bill ... the ""Gore"" tax).[/COLOR]
Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]This is obviously dated, but the priniciples remain intact: Obama care, federal land leasing, banking regulation/control.[/COLOR]
Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]The obligation to work has apparently been rescinded by the modern statists (the entitlement society) and the focus on agriculture diminished by modern farm equipment. But the industrial armies (the unions and their political bent) are clearly in the game plan.[/COLOR]
Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradua abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]Again, more obsolete specifics. But the lack of true federalism and abandonment of founding principles (""the abolition of the distinction between town and country,"" in our case, the lack of state's rights) is pretty obvious.[/COLOR]
Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of child factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
[COLOR=""#B22222""]This, my friends, is the ultimate lynchpin. The modification of the core value systems that promote founding principles, federalism, individual rights, property rights and liberty are easy targets for an educational system controlled by the statist.[/COLOR]

The bottom line is that Marx, Engels and Alinsky knew what they were talking about. They have been spot on. And they knew how to put together a ""tried and true recipe"" to unravel our existing system. So it's not surprising that we continue to see the same strategies and techniques, again and again. And besides, the current crop of statists are incapable of original thought ... which is likely why they're statists to begin with.
So we can read the playbook, we can know what the attack will look like, and there's plenty of existing game film to help us prepare (that cartoon being just a small part of it). We just need an informed (and aware) team to defend against the attack.
