"I have purchased a new hotplate and from Brewhaus and have been told I need to perform a bypass somehow. It is an 1800 watt CADCO LTD hotplate. Can someone please tell me if a bypass is necessary for my next run and how to do it. Thanks.

You need a router speed controller if you bypass it.. Before you do the simple by pass, do you have a R.S.C.???
I didn't know that Brewhaus offered an 1800 watt hotplate. For that size unit, you will need a RSC that easily can handle 15 amps at 120 volts. I would go for a 20 or 25 amp RSC.
if its the 1500 watt unir, it pulls 12.5 amps. I still like a 20 amp controller for safety

This is a post by Northernshiner which was in the Technical Support section. It is how I found out how to proceed with the by-passing of the hot plate thermostat. Thanks Northernshiner and if I am not supposed to do this let me know.
"Unplug Everything First.
1. Unplug everything:)
2. Open the hot plate enough to ID and locate the wire that goes from the thermostat knob to the heating element. Disconnect this wire from the heating element. Cap this wire, not needed anymore.
3. Locate the wire that goes from the power cord directly to the thermostat knob. Disconnect this wire from the thermostat knob and connect it to the heating element where the wire from step #2 above was originally connected.

I took wire #1 out completely so that it was not flapping around. And also electrical tape will melt due to the proximity to the element. (don't ask me how I know)
