"First let me just say that the welds on the PSII column I purchased here are very nice. Now I purchased the ""hose pack"" with the unit. It came with one copper mesh roll, do I need, or should I have another one or two? Secondly, I have attached the hoses as follows, from my water source to the bottom of the condenser and out the top port, (counter flow), and to the column in similar fashion, is this the advisable method?. Or, should I split the incoming water line and one go to the column and the other to the condenser? This may seem silly to yall, but I just want to do it right and any help or advise would be appreciated."

Hi Mongoose,
If you purchased the full column and intend on using it for reflux runs you'll need enough copper mesh to roll up plugs that will fill the entire column, from the bottom screen all the way up to the reflux condenser tubes. You also might want a little extra mesh to stuff between the reflux condenser tubes. The recommended length for a plug is 3.5 - 4.0 feet for the PSII and 10 - 11 feet for the PSII HC.
People set up the reflux condenser cooling water differently. Some go in the bottom and out the top, and some folks do it the other way around. I've tried it both ways and I'm now fairly convinced that going in at the top and out at the bottom makes more sense.
If you have the hose kit with the valve? ... put the valve downstream from the tee (between the tee and the reflux condenser input), the other side of the tee (without the valve) goes to the bottom of your product condenser). This allows you to adjust the water flow to the reflux condenser while keeping the flow to the product condenser at its highest possible rate.
The other tee (without the valve) just merges the output flows from both condensers.
Hope this helps.
Regards, --JB
