A parrot is an assist to reading your hydrometer- I have one but would like to have purchased my refractometer first.

I have ordered one and expect it in a couple days.

It is a contraption that floats your hydrometer. You keep a close eye on the hydrometer and make your cuts based on the proof change in the liquor.

I am still very much a novice and could have probably waited a little longer before purchasing mine but I thought it might help.

If you look around here in the forums there is another helpful post on parrots.
