Unsure on packing for a new reflux

This is way different than my old pot. anyhow on the packing i have seen all different materials. Hate to start a huge debate but wondering on what you consider the best and how much to put in the column and how tightly. I just keep seeing vision of a reverse buildup in the pot.........

Use about 4 pieces of copper mesh that will extend the length of your column. Also boil them between bathces, to clean use strong vinegar water with some salt added.
