"I am a new joiner...but I've been a lurker for a while. I recently bought a small-time 2.5 gallon hammered copper onion top still, and have been trying to produce something that even remotely tastes like the incredibly smooth, delicious, buttery-cornbread & candy-corn smelling stuff I got in TN. *sigh* The learning curve is steep. lol.....
I am 42 yo married lady who's professionally trained in cooking/baking/pastries...and I like to ""make my own"" as much as possible, you know? Typically, if I find something I like to eat or drink, I'm off to perfect my own version of it. It's a sickness...lol Anyway, I figured I'd do the same with a little homemade hooch...
...oh, yeah! Didn't even *know* that anything above 1 gallon was a no-no without a distilling license. (can't get one of those--have no out building and association wouldn't let me put one in anyway)
I decided to join, so I could introduce myself & perhaps ask a question or two about this hobby we partake in. :) Having said that...I have stumbled upon the posts explaining that my (over 1 gallon) still purchase (from TX) was turned over to the TTB. Nice. Love spending money and then having to decide between selling off the worm and onion top & just putting a plant in the pretty boiler...OR...possible harassment/prosecution by the govt.
So, anyway...here I am. I joined up at HD and MD under the same username. I'll be around, lurking as I normally do, and I'm sure I'll post a question or two sooner or later.
Glad to ""meet"" you all! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Pam"
