"I'm Billy and like the profile says I've been in healthcare for the last 20 years. On days off I work with friends doing everything from windows, roofs, septic to putting up hay and occasionally a bit of wrenching. I like gardening and playing in the dirt, guess some might say I'm a 40 year old kid.
Last week I was working with a friend doing windows and I met a good guy who handed me a pint after kindly asking if we were ""on the wagon."" It was a sugar base with blueberry essence, got a say it went down good. Obviously not at this point. He explained to me that he made a small distiller and it triggered my interest, he refereed me here to get info. Here I am.
What I can tell you is it was a small set up that used a stainless pot, a thumper and a bunch of copper pipe that was straight with a bunch of angles. if anyone has an idea of what I'm talking about could you point me in a direction please.
I work hard I play hard and I love my family, I am into EDC if you are not familiar with it it is similar to prepping but on a personal carry level. If I've neglected to mention anything I apologize. If you have any questions for me let me know. Well kind folks I'll try not to be a pain. I'm off to surf the pages.
Looking forward to learning all kind of good stuff.
Thanks
Billy"

"Hi Billy,
Welcome to the forum!
That fellow must be a very trusting individual, or you and your friend have a very trustworthy way about you! I think most folks here wouldn't be so open. But now that you know the kind gentleman makes his own spirits, and was trusting enough to share some with you, along with showing you his rig, you are duty bound to protect his anonymity. We have a few simple mottos that go a long way: ""Be safe!"" and ""Don't sell, don't tell.""
If the experience piqued your interest, and you'd like to explore this great hobby a bit more, do a web search for ""Making Gin & Vodka"". You'll probably find a pdf file that you can download and read. Word-for-word, I think it's one of the best books available for folks that are just getting started ... since it answers so many questions and is so well written.
Again, welcome!
Regards, --JB"

John, Thank you for the info. I will most certainly protect his anonymity. I will be sure to Be Safe, Don't Sell, Don't Tell. Seems to me in this world that you don't come across a lot of genuine good folks. If you find a few along the way then you have been blessed. Found the PDF and and will print it out in the morning and take to reading it.
Again thank you John.

Hi Billy, Welcome to the forum and the hobby. Jb is correct it is good to do some research before you start this hobby. This forum is a great resource, it is filled with a lot of good info and many helpful members. The book review section has reviews of several good books to help you learn. If you do a google search many can be found in pdf format. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Maddawgs
