"Picked up a router speed control from HF. Open up the hot plate and moved a couple of wires, bam, done deal. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Now I have control. I can adjust the output to one or two drops per second which is where I want it. Before the mod I essentially had no fine control due to the cycling of the thermostat. I suspect I'll get much better results now.

And BTW, this is the deluxe hot plate from BH. It's really a fine piece of work and now it's even better.

I also moved the still into the kitchen so I could hook it up to tap water. a recirculating reservoir just doesn't cut it in a hot garage in August."
