New to all of this. Ran some rum washes through a 8 gallon boiler with a reflux tower. Sugar, molasses, yeast. One stripped and one not. The unstripped run had much better taste. Should I be stripping my rum wash?

If you are running in reflux there is no need for a stripping run as you are making more of a neutral. If running slow in pot mode you don't necessarily need to do a stripping run. Just make good cuts

Personally I never do stripping runs but I do run my whiskey at least twice and very slow--

"A stripping run is used to reduce volume, nothing more. You can do this if you want to combine the low wines from two or more stripping runs into a single spirit run. When I do a reflux run for a neutral I always combine the low wines from at least two stripping runs.
If you're making a neutral, there's no need to strip very low since you probably aren't interested in bringing very much flavor forward anyway. I don't take it down lower than about 20% - 25% in this case. That is, once I'm below 25% I'm done ... sometimes it's 20% ... sometimes it's 23% ... etc.). If you're looking for flavor (rum, whiskey, etc.) you will probably want to bring it down to at least 20% - 15% so you can bring more flavor forward."

Stripping runs are basically for increasing the proof of your distillate from pot stills and air stills and they also decrease the volume of your run by a significant margin."
