I am curious if anybody has tried charcoal filtering the wash before completing the spirit run on a vodka distillation. The only downside I can think of is it might make the cuts more difficult, but would eliminate a bunch of nastie before the final distillation. For those that may be thinking it, I understand I don't have to ever charcoal filter, however I choose to:).

That is an idea but I think it takes too long to filter 1 gal never mind 5. Plus you would muck up your carbon pretty quickly. I'm sure there are other reasons also.

And if carbon usage is something you like well theres nothing wrong with that. Do this... Strip your wash and re-run it, THEN carbon polish it, thats really the best way to utilize your carbon the best.....IMHO!"
