Does anyone use a spigot a few inches up from the bottom of the fermentor for draining the wash before placing it in the still. I use this when doing a 58 gallon barrel for fermenting grapes for wine an it works great. I am new to distilling and was wondering if this method is ok to use for the wash, it would be easier than siphoning or pouring. Any input would be appreciated, thanks mississippi mike

Williams Brewing sells a spigot adaptor that accomplishes just what you are looking for. http://www.williamsbrewing.com/INVERT_TUBE_BACKNUT_P179C104.cfm There is quite a bit less accumulation on the botton of a hooch fermentor than with beer or wine so in theory it should work perfectly.
