"I run a copper pot still, it has a onion style top to it. I was talking to someone who uses Marbles in their stainless pot still while running and I have read that marbles or maybe rashing rings help up the proof/ABV??? by putting them in your pot. any truth to that??

Thanks - Cajun"

in the boiler all it does is keeping it from puking. If you pack the column with copper and raschig rings it will raise the proof running in reflux and make a more neutral spirit

Thanks Dieselduo, but I am not using a reflux rig, I have a copper pot onion head style still. but I read that putting marbles and I assumed rashing rings would work the same, something about helps create bubles that put off the vapor and somehow that increases the Proof.

Hi Cajun. Marbles/rashig rings help in the pot to keep puking and flash boiling to a minimum. In the tower they will produce a little amt of reflux. Barely measurable unless you have some reflux cooling. I have not heard that boiling chips in the pot increase ABV.

Thanks for the info Hokey, since I don't have a puking problem or flash/burning -I'll just skip that
