Would it be safe to store alcohol in a gallon plastic jug over a period of time? Or any suggestions on what to use for storage?

I wouldn't use plastic. 1/2 gal mason jars are cheap enough. That's what I use to oak with. Even wine jugs or anything glass would be better.
