More questions from a newbie. My wash, (13.5 lbs. of sugar in 6.5 gallons H2O with Turbo 24) started off real well I thought. Followed directions exactly. Was unable to get an OG on the SG because my hydrometer arrived broken. Anyway, within 2 hours of the throw the airlock was bubbling to beat hell and continued to do so for the next 55 hours or so then quit. Just received my new hydrometer a few moments ago and have a reading of .99 at 71 degrees F. Did I screw up? The potential alcohol side says 0% on the potential scale. The wash smells like beer, tastes like beer and is just slightly cloudy. Thanks for any input gents.

Thanks again Dieselduo. Got a little confused on the duel scale. So the alcohol potential side of the scale is just an indicator of the potential when you initially start your wash based on the "thickness" for lack of better words?
